home sweet home

I think this little "home" is one of the most popular items in Kyree's room. A lot of people ask me about it and if you're interested in making your own here is a simple how-to. As many people know, I love dollhouses, but I wanted to start her off with something simple. I found everything I needed at Michael's. Here is a list of what to get.
~cute "dollhouse" (originally a wooden cd holder) -$5.99 or so.
~acrylic paint -.89 cents
~wood glue-no more than $2.99
~ribbon (about 4 diffrent kinds)- on sale, .99 cents each
~wooden trees and flowers to glue on the house-25 cents each
~hot glue gun-hope you have one already!
I sanded the house a little bit just to have a smoother surface to paint, plus it allows paint to stick better. Start by painting the house, paint your little heart out-whatever color makes you happy, just make sure to make it interesting. When the paint in dry, I started glueing the ribbon on the roof of the house sort of overlapping them with hot glue gun. I also added some ribbon to the house itself. I used the wood glue to add on the tree and flowers to the windows. As you go along you may want to add more interest and your touch to it. It is a lot of fun to do, and best of all- EASY. If your child is old enough, include them in this! Let your imagination go wild. I loved doing this so much that I'm gonna do some more and maybe give them as gifts. Happy crafting!
