the lucky sew-it-yourself book

talk about a lucky find! yesterday afternoon my baby girl and i went on our little treasure adventure at the thrift store and we stumbled upon this little book, the lucky sew-it-yourself book by camille sokol. filled with the cutest illustrations, this book shows children how to sew many things out of one piece of fabric! love it! and for 25 cents, i just had to add this to our collection. it sits on top of the fireplace because i enjoy looking at it so much. happy!

christmas ideas

i'm super excited that baby girl ky is finally appreciating dolls. sometimes i have a little bit of trouble finding dolls that are soft, but have a "doll" look and even dolls that look like her. i did find this little shop on etsy that i just adore. she makes the cutest handmade dolls and dolls that represent little ones of mixed race/cultures. (such a need for that, i tell you!) the dolls are absolutely adorable as you can see. i am looking forward to getting ky's little doll this christmas! her shop is called the handmade project and you can click here to visit. they are absolutely cute as a button!

in the meantime..

WHERE HAVE I BEEN? well, yes i have been enjoying what's left of the summer way too much. the boys have started school and it's me and little baby girl all day. to be honest, i am still having a hard time balancing family, school and my creativity. i'm still creating, which at times i feel so exhausted to do- but, i try to find the time. blogging? that's a whole different story. i truly have come to realize that i MUST find the time. MUST. i'm still waiting for some pretty new beads to come in and then i will have to post what i've come up with! i am going to put myself on some type of schedule and make blogging a priority, because i truly do enjoy it. i think that when you're a mom anything that seems enjoyable and that is just YOURS tends to come last on the list. part of my enjoyment is bloggging. so now i have realized that i must make it part of my "me" time because it's important to me. even if no one reads my posts, it's still a way for me to get my thoughts out about what it is that i love. with that said i've posted some pics of my latest projects. i found this VERY comfy chair at a local thrift shop. price? $1.99. yes, i know. i love a great deal. so i bought some fabric and voila! a new/old chair. i love it..mostly i love the challenge. what can i say? it's in my bones. well, i am so glad to be back and i am certainly going to make "me" time a priority on the list!

cute.

it was such a pretty day today and I decided to hit the thrift store. I love shopping there and finding unique things, but I have always felt funny about buying shoes. when I spotted these, it was love at first sight! they looked brand new...had to have them. one problem. i'm a size 8 1/2. these? 7. i knew the perfect feet for these! lucky for my lovely friend, jeri, she's a size 7, huh? i ended up buying these for her, couldn't let these just sit there! cute pair of dark jeans, maybe green top and she's ready to go! total? $2.99. score!
